Traboule Meaning

 A traboule is, in essence, an alternative path, one that facilitates smooth passage from point A to B. Branching like blood vessels across Lyon, Traboules hold the lymph of this city, they represent its very soul. People once used these buildings as shortcuts, hideouts and meeting places, to facilitate movement, trade and communication. With time, the original purpose of these buildings faded, but their towers, winding stairs and passageways still capture our modern imagination in unexpected ways. It is difficult to imagine Lyon without its Traboules.

THE TRABOULE COLLECTIVE

Founded in Lyon in 2024, The Traboule collective stems from the same necessity as its namesake. Facilitating exchange, movement and connection through the wonderful labyrinth of the City. Our purpose is to forge an alternative path for artists to meet, to express, to be seen and heard. By combining our background in various media- Music, sound engineering film, photography, and more- we want to use the marvellous spaces that Lyon has to offer as a canvas for artists. The Traboule collective is an enterprise created by artists for artists, with the intent to foster an international network, one great living organism with people as its cells and Lyon as its beating heart.
